
Camp Teaching Intern

The One Planet summer camp serves the 8 elementary schools of WRVSU, grades K-6 from Monday-Friday, 8 am-4 pm. Each week offers campers thematic enrichment programming, exciting field trips to some of our region's best destinations, as well as classic summer camp activities such as arts and crafts, outdoor recreation, and time to relax with friends.
Camp Teaching Intern is responsible for a wide range of general camp tasks, assisting the Site Coordinator and Enrichment Program Leader throughout the day. As a culminating project, the teaching intern will design an implement four theme based enrichment activities for the campers during their final week of camp. Activity plans will be presented to the Site Coordinator for approval at least one week in advance of implementation.
Qualifications/Essential Duties:
- Assist in the execution of enrichment programs with academic, physical, and/or enrichment focus.
- Assist with instruction and supervision of students as directed by Enrichment Program Leaders and Site Coordinator.
- Build positive relationships with students.
- Assist with attendance, snack, recreation time, transitions, and sign-out process.
- Assist with set-up and clean-up.
- Assist with arrangement, appearance, and respectful use of program space.
- Design and implement 4 theme based enrichment activities for the final week of camp.
This position is part of a cohort of 12 interns working with organizations that support the White River Valley Community Schools. Funded by the UVM Leahy Institute for Rural Partnerships, free housing for interns will be provided at Vermont Technical College in Randolph, VT. Interns will participate in a week-long community orientation, weekly intern cohort workshops for professional development, networking, and reflection and a final sharing event on Monday, August 4, 5:30-7 pm.
