Human Resources Optimization Intern

The Summer Intern program provides college students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful projects that contribute to the overall business unit objectives.  In addition to the assigned projects, Interns are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers, managers, and employees.

CooperVision is looking for students interested in learning about Human Resources Optimization in a global organization. This internship will support various HR projects across CooperVision. The HR Intern will have the opportunity to gain experience with the execution of tactical processes as well as support strategic projects and initiatives that impact our global employees. This role involves analyzing current HR processes, researching best practices, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and the overall employee experience. You will also gain an understanding of CooperVision’s approach to the Human Resources Business Partners (HRBP) model and an overview of our Centers of Expertise (COE) Talent Acquisition, Talent Management & Organizational Effectiveness, Total Rewards and HR Systems.

This position is targeted to allow the incumbent to focus their career endeavors to a future HR position.  This role will include interaction with senior leadership and a final presentation to the Corporate leadership team about your experience including recommendations.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
• Conduct research, data analysis, and interact with stakeholders to support key HR initiatives and leverage insights to inform overall HR operations.
• Collaborate with global Human Resources teams as well as opportunities to collaborate cross-functionally throughout the business.
• Deliver a creative and innovative HR solution-oriented project.
• Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for global HR processes. 
• Assist with various data gathering and analyses.
• Completes special projects and other duties as required.
• As business needs dictate, may work extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks to include mandatory overtime.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Advanced skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 
• Well organized with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent project management, organizational and follow-through skill set. 
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate with diverse populations.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Professional demeanor.

Work Environment:
• Professional office setting.
• Willing to report to work in the Victor or West Henrietta, New York offices 5 days per week.
• Occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
• Prolonged sitting in front of a computer.
• This is a paid, full-time position (40 hours per week) during the summer.

Experience
• Completed coursework in Human Resources required.
• Previous work experience in a professional office setting required.
• Prior Internship experience is a plus.

Education:
• Current college student, entering their Senior year of their Bachelor’s Degree, or working towards a post-graduate degree, majoring in Industrial & Labor Relations, Human Resources or Business Administration. 
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 required.
