Purchasing Intern (Promotions)

Summary

The Purchasing - Promotions Intern will work on a variety of tasks and assignments including preparing, in conjunction with the Promotions Managers, market analysis of competitor products, pricing, limited time offer plans, promotional pricing plans, and seasonal assortment plans. The Intern will be provided with an opportunity to receive hands-on training in key promotional buying and planning principles while working closely with Purchasing leadership. The culmination of the Internship will require a presentation to leadership on a strategic initiative.

What You’ll Do

•    Help identify and propose new promotional items
•    Support Purchasing Managers by assisting with market analysis of competitor promotional products, pricing, and strategies
•    Assist in conducting research to refine and influence our promotional planning to drive store traffic and engage our customers most effectively
•    Assist in analyzing data to evaluate the performance of promotional strategies
•    Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
•    Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
•    Ability to work independently or in a team within an open office environment
•    Strong research and analytical skills
•    Must be a self-motivated individual
•    Retail background preferred but not required
•    Ability to commit to a full time work schedule (40 hours per week)

 

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience
•    Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Merchandising, Business, or similar field from an accredited University
•    Must be a rising Junior or Senior with a 3.0 or higher grade point average

 

Physical Job Requirements
•    Ability to sit, stand, and move for extended periods of time between in-office desk work and in-field assignments
•    Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

 

 

What You’ll Receive

Full-time, paid 10-week internship, running from June 10-August 16
Hybrid working model based out of the Company headquarters located in Arlington, VA
Compensation of $20 per hour
Hands on learning and experience working on real projects
