A.  General Statement:
Capstone’s Social Media and Market Research Intern will support the GreenSavingSmart program, a State funded financial and energy coaching pilot program administered by the five Community Action Agencies in Vermont (GreenSavingSmart.org). This program helps low- and moderate-income Vermonters establish financial wellness through individualized one-on-one coaching. Our certified financial coaches help our participants manage personal finances while offering ways to reduce carbon usage through transportation options, home energy upgrades, and tax credits and incentives to help boost our participants’ savings and improve their lives.
The goal of this internship will be to support social media strategy, content creation, and market research in order to increase engagement and awareness around GreenSavingSmart and to uncover new ways this program can better serve low- and moderate-income Vermonters.

During this internship, the intern will be able to develop and build skills such as systems design, content creation, data collection and analysis, public speaking, strategic thinking, and market research.

B. Essential Functions

This internship will be two-fold. First, the intern will manage and create content for the program’s social media channels and blog with a focus on creating a strategy and rolling out a short form video series that engages our target audiences around energy and personal finance issues. The ultimate goal of this part of the internship is to increase awareness of and participation in the GreenSavingSmart program to help make sure all Vermonters are part of the climate transition. The Intern will also be expected to create a training workshop and reference guidebook for the GreenSavingSmart team to continue implementing the social media and video strategy after the summer ends.

The second focus of the internship will be on a market research project that will be designed and executed by the Intern in collaboration with the GreenSavingSmart Statewide Team Lead. The goal of this project is to collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data on our target audience’s needs and values in order to better serve our community. This project could include conducting surveys and interviews, concluding in a final report and presentation.
