Community Projects Internship

Are you looking for an opportunity to work in one of Vermont’s small towns with very dedicated community volunteers who build and promote activities and facilities that encourage community involvement, outdoor recreation and civic engagement?

Organization Profile:
The Cabot Community Association (CCA) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that works with community members and organizations to enhance the educational and recreational opportunities in Cabot and support a strong local economy. 

Internship Overview:
The CCA Community Projects Intern’s project deliverable is the creation of a marketing plan and associated activities/materials to promote and measure the impact of events, outdoor recreation, local businesses and other community activities. 

Specifically, the intern will:
•   research and build relationships with local and state entities to create an online Cabot business and tourism guide;
•   work with local business owners to create a Cabot business association;
•   develop a welcome program for new residents;
•   draft data collection strategies and surveys to assess use and impact of community amenities and services.
 
The intern will also assist the CCA in strengthening and formalizing its diversity, equity and inclusion policies and practices.

This internship provides an opportunity to hone organizational skills, create an actual product (or two) to demonstrate skills and build relationships with those working in the areas of community & economic development and outdoor recreation at the municipal, regional and state level. In addition, the CCA publishes a community newspaper, The Cabot Chronicle, providing an opportunity to develop interviewing and writing skills and publish written work.

The CCA is located in Cabot, VT (30 minute drive from Montpelier and can be accessible via public transportation), with most work able to be done remotely. 

This intern position is for up to 200 hours at $20/hour, from May 30 – August 4, 2023

This internship is funded in part by the Statewide Internship Project Pilot, a partnership between the UVM Office of Engagement and the Central Vermont Economic Development Corporation (CVEDC). Enrolled UVM students will be paid no less than $20/hour and will be part of a cohort of Central Vermont interns who will participate in paid, weekly professional development workshops hosted by UVM and CVEDC. This program is part of a consortium with MiddWorks, working on behalf of Vermont communities through building and supporting a vibrant talent pipeline.
