Corporate Strategy Intern
Overview
Over a ten week internship, the corporate strategy intern will assist the museum’s executive director in conducting the data collection, research, analysis, and writing required to prepare a five year business plan for the Vermont Granite Museum. The business plan will consist of an executive summary, a brief history and current status report of the museum, overview of its mission and vision, and a detailed description of its five year goals and the actions necessary to meet the goals in the areas of fiscal and administrative management, fundraising, products and services, facilities management, human resources, and marketing and communications. The business plan will be used to improve the management and efficiency of the museum and enable the museum to achieve its vision for growth.

Skills Desired:
·       Preference will be given to students in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or related analytic field
·       Must thrive as both an individual contributor and in a team environment
·       Prior experience or keen interest in Market Research, Strategic Planning, Finance, or other field based in analysis or market research
·       Knowledge of business practices, especially of nonprofit organizations
·       Strong economics and financial acumen
·       Understanding of the administration of human
·       Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities for strategy intern:
·       Work with the executive director to understand the Vermont Granite Museum’s current operations and its potential as a museum and art school
·       Research comparative examples of strategic plans
·       Work in collaboration with board members, staff, and volunteers to collect quantitative and qualitative data in support of the museum’s new business plan
·       Identify and prioritize strategic questions to be used during interviews of those identified to be important to the project outcomes
·       Perform in-depth competitive, industry, and market research and analysis
·       Identify, evaluate, and solve discrete challenges for each section within the business plan
·       Apply a strategic framework to suggest action items for each section of the business plan
·       Convey the project results using technical writing skills to develop a clear roadmap that will guide the museum’s priorities

Work Schedule:
Have the availability to work at least 200 hours total during the summer. Interns will work approximately 20 hours a week between 9AM and 5PM, Monday through Saturday. The dates for the internship must fall between May 30 and August 4. The schedule is flexible within these parameters.
