Staff Accountant (Entry Level for 2019 Grads)
for 2018-19 graduates from four year undergraduate accounting programs or graduates from master’s degree programs in accounting or taxation who are interested in being exposed to a wide array of experience as opposed to being assigned exclusively to an audit staff or tax department position in a large firm.
All first year staff accountants will work on financial statement audits, computerized client general ledgers, individual, partnership, trust and corporate tax returns. In addition to preparing audit work papers, the staff accountant drafts financial statements for compilation and review engagements. All staff members spend part of their time at the offices of clients and part of their time in the office of Raines & Fischer LLP. Excellent communication skills are a requirement as you are expected to interface with clients on a professional level.
First year staff accountants receive significant training in tax preparation and will be responsible for preparing computerized tax returns on ProSystems fx software. They will also be involved in tax planning and projection work as well as tax research. Direct interface with clients with regard to these matters begins immediately.
There is also a limited amount of special project work that may include areas of financial planning, portfolio analysis and cash flow projections. Senior staff members and partners provide training in these areas.
All candidates should possess advanced computer skills, strong interpersonal skills and an interest in the entrepreneurial spirit. Knowledge of spreadsheet programs, word processing and Quickbooks accounting software are a plus.
Raines & Fischer LLP offers a highly competitive salary and fringe benefit package and believes in merit advances as opposed to those based on longevity.
