Strategic Investments Intern:
RenRe has a long history of investing in private equity stakes of companies that help advance our global underwriting and operating objectives. Since inception, we’ve deployed over $400M million into various investments that have generated a 20% IRR, returned over $800M in proceeds (dividends + selldowns), and today represents a retained portfolio value of over $700M.
The intern role will support the Strategic Investments team with all aspects of work required for portfolio management and business development, including assessing potential new investments, engaging with existing investments on opportunities as they arise, providing portfolio reporting and administrative support, and assisting on broader RenRe corporate development and M&A assignments.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Support the Strategic Investments team to evaluate, diligence and execute potential new Strategic Investments in areas including: (re)insurance, insurtech, distribution, data, analytics, and investments
- Complete transaction modeling and valuation work
- Research and analysis of the (re)insurance industry
- Engage with investment bankers, distribution partners and other key constituencies on potential investment opportunities, as well as broader landscape topics
- Assist in monitoring, management and oversight of the existing Strategic Investment portfolio, including meetings with management, analyzing financial statements, and coordinating internal and external reporting requirements.
- Assist with executing corporate development and M&A opportunities at RenRe, including financial impact analysis, diligence coordination, meeting material preparation and other project management activities
- Assist in the development of presentation materials related to the Strategic Investment portfolio and/or corporate M&A for executive leadership and our Board of Directors
Candidate Skills:
- Current undergraduate Junior (rising Senior), pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business or finance with strong academic qualifications
- Intermediate financial modelling and analysis capabilities, with proficiency in excel and power point
- Proven work ethic and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working in a team environment
- Ability to work independently, effectively establishing priorities and advancing deliverables without regular supervision
- Possess drive, engagement, curiosity, enthusiasm
- Ideally some exposure to the Property and Casualty (“P&C”) industry, though industry experience is not required
